夏を味わう和菓子「麩饅頭」とは?
麩饅頭(ふまんじゅう) is one of Japan’s representative summer wagashi, or traditional Japanese sweets. Unlike regular manju or mochi, its outer layer is made with 生麩(なまふ), a type of fresh wheat gluten. Nama-fu is made from wheat gluten and glutinous rice flour, giving it a pleasantly chewy and springy texture. Inside, it is often filled with smooth koshi-an, or strained red bean paste. Since it is wrapped in bamboo leaves, you can also enjoy a subtle bamboo fragrance. Fu Manju is often eaten chilled, and its refreshing appearance makes it a beloved seasonal sweet enjoyed especially in summer.
